I think of those Staples commercials “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” with the parents floating around dragging their kids behind them.
It’s mixed feelings for me this year as it’s the first time my kids will be going to school after always homeschooling and they’re the ones who are excited (and me, not so much).
And flagged again! WIsh gocomics would find a way to permanently block these spammers.
Ah yes. Back to school bliss. I remember it well. When I was teaching, you could almost hear the cheers of relief from the mothers as they dropped their children off for their first day back to school. If they were being honest, I think most of the kids were relieved to be back, too. Summer gets a bit boring after a while.
@howtheduck
It’s possible to be relieved to send the kids back to school AND to be nostalgic that your baby is growing up at the same time. It’s called mixed feelings.
Yep catlady… I’m feel exactly that this year. I’m going to miss my little guy and I can’t believe how fast he’s growing up but I am so looking forward to a few hours of peace too. It’s a mixed bag.
@mcveinot
After “always” homeschooling my sons, this will also be my first year without them. The youngest starts college next week. However, both live at home and are only going part-time, so I’ll see them pretty often.
I’m thrilled about having time to work on other projects, my sons are NOT happy about having to put up with the negative socialization (especially the foul language) at college.
Some of my best memories are from being a room-mother.
Let’s hope some of the smile on her face is attributed to that…at least a little bit of it, anyways =)

What a hoot this one is!!!! I’m not a mother, but I remember the blissful look on my Mom’s face when we left for school that first day.

Slightly off-topic but following up on a comment above:
Do you know the definition of mixed emotions?
It is watching your mother-in-law drive off a cliff in your new Mercedes.
