If I were Phoebe making a Christmas gift for Marigold, the first thing that comes to mind is a knitted horn warmer.

What do you get for someone who can conjure up just about anything they want magically?

She could find a really good pet-shop and buy Marigold a big bag of fancy designer hay with herbs and flowers in it.

“It build character, Cal- er, Phoebe”. Also, beneath that larger perspective is a guy who doesn’t want to spring for a christmas gift.

It’s amazing how some comic strips are so hugely influential that you keep seeing bits of them everywhere. And after I read the Peanuts, I swear every other comic seemed to be delightedly riding the tracks that Peanuts brazed.

Anyway, this is just a side note – the Calvin & Hobbes similarities do appear now and again, and it means nothing except that Bill Watterson had a tremendous impact of readers and fellow artists alike. All it means is that Simpson has good taste. :) I do love this strip; it’s top notch.
