It’s probably Teddy, Francis, or Trudy. Maybe Gina or Randy.

My guess would be Trudy too, but lets see. Spitzy certainly looks surprised. And if it is Trudy she might have brought her cat.

This, I think, is the start of a story. Whenever a story in a comic/cartoon lasts more than one strip, I call it a story (please tell me if there is a proper name for it).

Likely to be Trudy. If it were one of Nate’s friends, it would have most likely been arranged so that we see that it was them. If it were someone like Randy or Jenny, who threw it to be mean, it wouldn’t likely continue past the strip after this. Most stories last at least four strips, and I’ve seen some that last more than three weeks.

If it’s Trudy, Peirce can play with it a bit, as Trudy is a relatively new character and thus has not been branded by fans.

For example, in the next strip, Nate might wheel around and start chewing out whoever threw the snowball:

“WHAT THE HECK?! WHY WOULD YOU THROW THAaaaaaaa…”

Only to discover that it was Trudy, and she was just being playful:

“Uh, Trudy!… I… uh…”

Then the cartoonist (Peirce) can just play around with her reaction to his reaction to his own reaction to being hit with a snowball.

Now, I don’t know Lincoln Peirce, and the next strip might be completely different in every way. But, as a cartoonist, I think this course of events would definitley be logical to assume to happen.

Lincoln Peirce, if you’re reading this, whaddya think?
