Ruth bought a place called “Chris’s Steak House” in New Orleans. The terms of the sale said that she could not use the name at any other location. When it burned down and she had to relocate, but didn’t want to lose the brand identity of the popular place, she called the new restaurant “Ruth’s Chris Steak House”.
I went to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse about five years ago. I got one of the least expensive pieces of meat on the menu… a small filet mignon. It was either $38 or $42 (can’t remember) and it not significantly better than filet anywhere else. And by the way, the “sides” are extra. And expensive. Buyer beware!

John’s Outshouse Steakhouse is the only one of the three that these cheapskates would visit!

It’s much better, at a price.

I’ve had great food and service at both places but Ruth’s Chris makes you feel like a celeb, if that’s fun for you. It is kinda neat.

I find it amusing that Outback advertises itself obviously as an Australian type place, and then they tell you about their New York Strip steak. ??
