Oops. Made her lose count. Have to start over. (They’ve been planning this for weeks.)

This one is actually a “hindsight is 20/20” moment for many. There was a time when one of the most over-used bromides among that lot was, “Let’s tell the help we’ll take our business elsewhere! That’ll show ’em”. Truth is, that never did, and it still doesn’t. The turnover among the help these days is as such that it could be a completely new staff on duty with each regular visit to such an institution. And the staff members who are put in that position are usually not management, and are barely making a living as it is. They can be perfunctorily civil to customers, but it’s not likely they’re losing sleep over those customers’ woes at night. As such, in general, they really don’t give a rip if the likes of this lot take their business elsewhere.

Today, some banks are paying a bonus for coins due to the ‘shortage.’

Jeeze-Louise, costs ‘em $5 to get $1.24 hand-counted. Aren’t they incredible, folks? Coming up: even more stupid people tricks after we pause for station identification!

Burl, if the bank came up with a higher amount than you did, would you still want the amount you came up with deposited?

Many years ago I saved up loose change and deposited it in my kids savings accounts on a rotating basis. After some time, it amounted to several thousand dollars. Plus, my husband and I had our checking and savings there as well. One day I came in to deposit about $40 worth of change, all counted and rolled. They said they didn’t take coins anymore. I said I would take my business elsewhere. @BlitzMcd, perhaps I wasn’t the only one, as that bank is no more. BofA has my accounts now and they have an automatic coin counting machine in every branch.

Saw today that if you take $10 in change to Chick-Fil-A you will get a $10 bill and a coupon for a free sandwich.
