Danae: Well, sort of... Ghost: OOOOAAHEEWWWYYEECHHOWOWEEEOOOHH, good lard! Is it too much to ask to get ONE decent bottle of shiraz around here?!

Wine snob⊠and now we know why heâs dead.

Merlot may be more reliable. Dadae might give him a Red Bull instead?

He wants something with a bit more body.

The sweet reds I fancy are apparently snubbed by wine snobs.

I believe this is a repeat from some years back.

gazperson, hermit, If you enlarge it enough, youâll see itâs from â05âŠâŠNot the date by Kate, but the one under the third panelâŠ.It is easier to read on yesterdayâs stripâŠ.

Yup, I agree: a nice Shiraz with a dandy bite.

Still love this from yesterday: âSuperfrog said, Itâs not a good idea to mix wine and spirits.â (Good job.)

Hey Reginald, we know youâre a ghost and alcohol canât affect you, but donât try to affect it on the ones who are alive!

I like to listen to old time radio shows. One was a ghost story involving a pitiful wail! The wail was pitiful but not for the intended reason. I broke out laffing each time I heard it!

âAhh good lard!â From the looks of him, it sure looks like it

Hey Reggie! Put a cork in it!

At least Reginald is not pining for a buttery Chardonnay. The real trick is a great Cab-Franc that doesnât taste like green pepper.
dabugger about 9 years ago
Some would say, âjust an ole winoâ. The girls seem to take the haunting in stride.

An attractive friend of my brother owned a house in Charleston, SC, that was haunted by a lecherous old sea captain. Heâd get all grabby unless she left out a glass of whiskey. He never drank it, but its presence kept him quiet, and her lady parts were safe so it was worth the expense.

The wine supply is depleted, the kid says itâs a haunt, & thereâs a bridge for sale in Brooklyn.

I guess I havenât been reading this âtoon long enough to be aware of all its critters. Who is Reginald and where did he come from?
mwengler about 9 years ago
Why is the comic in B & W? Also Danaeâs dad looks different. Is this an older comic?

âOh, Iâve just gotta have a drink, Iâve just gotta! Trouble is, whereâs the five-star French Bordeaux when you need it the most?!"
GiantShetlandPony about 9 years ago
As for wine, donât whine, like what you like and donât let anyone else tell you what you should like. And if box wine gives you a headache, try not drinking the whole box in one night the next time you try it. :P

In China, the expression for a habitual drunk/alcoholic, or someone who just likes wine more than socially acceptable (which has a sort of low threshold) is called a âwine ghost.â

âOh, Good Lardâ?
I once had a bumper sticker on my car that read âJesus is Lardâ and got my car vandalized with black spray paint.

The thing about discarnate spirits like Reginald is that they died in their alcoholism, without faith in a Higher Power to free them from their obsessive dependence on booze (or drugs, tobacco, etc.). In the long run, it really doesnât matter whether you get drunk on the finest imported wines, or any old rotgut you happen to come across; youâre just as hooked either way! All that happens when a person dies is that the physical garment is dropped off; leaving the inner soul untreated⊠I know, because Iâve been there myself.

Apparently, no one has told Reginald about the current state of Relations between the USA and Iran.
Of course, since Iran became Muslim and Anti Alcohol, most Shiraz wine is bottled in France instead of the city of Shiraz.
