Frazz: Good Christmas? Girl: Another year, another orange. Frazz: They do round out the toe of the stocking nicely. Girl: They also stoke my cynicism big time. Frazz: I see. Flying caribou, no problem. But...Girl: That's one big citrus grove in the arctic, is what I'm saying.

It won’t be long and Sarah won’t be able to hear the bell. Though I’ve grown old, the bell still rings for me.

This is a comic aimed at five groups of people:Swimmers, Bikers, Runners, Educators, and Students.
As bigpuma obviously doesn’t fall into any of these categories, he won’t ever like the comic.
This is no different than someone reading the conservative editorial cartoons when they are a strong liberal.
The only reason to read and comment on them is if you’re looking for a fight.

Everybody knows that Santa buys his oranges at Costco, North Pole store.

It has been a long standing tradition in my family; either an orange or a tangerine . . .and a “Chunky” in our stocking.

North American Santa Claus originates from the Dutch Sinter Klaus, created by the Dutch East India Company. With his sidekick Black Peter he would bring oranges to all good little girls and boys in Holland, thus increasing the profits of the Dutch East India Company (who imported the fruit from Spain and other countries) immensely. I’m not surprised at the oranges in the stockings. My only real surprise is that it is not a bottle of Coca Cola (Coke did to North America what the Dutch Orange Corporation did to Holland). The only big difference (and it is a big one) is that where Sinter Klaus is skinny as a rake, Santa Claus is a “fat, jolly old elf”. Both were used as advertising gimmicks to promote corporate profits.

Eh, Santa, like everyone else, outsources what he can’t get locally. What I want to know is if Amazon is delivering to the North Pole by drone.

What, you don’t think Santa passes by the occasional orange grove while tracking down the stockings of the good little boys and girls of the world en route?

Very few people know that NASA’s 3D food printer is based on spy photos of Santa’s stocking stuffer production facility.

There are always exceptions, I’m just saying that it is focused on them. I personally am a member of three of those groups, which how I came to my conclusions.

A bit late to comment because my computer kept locking up yesterday. However, I always got an orange in my stocking, and so the tradition carried on to my kids, too. My kids asked why, so I told them that it was a real treat to have an orange in the winter…back in the day. (Well, we got other things in the stocking, too.)
