@bawana – We’re tired of cleaning a big house. We’re tired of weekends being taken up with yard work and projects. We’re worried about picking up after the retired spouse in a big house. We want to retire, too! We want time with our spouses, not to be upstairs puttering or off alone while he’s down in his workshop. We’ve waited for years for you to be home to have time with us, to go places and do things…. Compromise is key. A smaller abode with a backyard shed?

I’m with you on this one. I am retired and have just set up a nice wood shop. Can’t wait to spend more and more time there. Love spending time with my wife, but see no need to be under foot 24/7. Can’t understand why she doesn’t pursue her own interest…she plays piano and loves doing artwork…..Now she has the time to devote to both.

A houseboat is an option. Those boat builders know how to use every cubic inch of space.

They didn’t have “Media Rooms” back then.

Who says the house and yard have to be spotless/perfect? I would love to have a bigger house because I love craft projects and there’s never room for everything. And what exactly do you have in mind in spending time with the hubby? I work at home and he’s already retired, and I would love some time away from one another. I don’t even enjoy watching television with him any more because we don’t like any of the same programs.

Six months later Janis would be asking Arlo “Don’t you have someplace to go?” because he is always at home and the house is so small she has to step outside to change her mind.

I like having a large house with room for both of us to have separate areas. But I am tired of the pool care, gutter cleaning, and tree trimming.

Gym = Bedroom…Pool Room with a Wet Bar = Bathroom…Media Room = Living Room…
