I find coconut shreds just like rubber bands, but not as tasty.

I love coconut, on top of other food, fresh by itself and baked into pies, cakes, etc. Yummy!

Having lived in the tropics for six years, I’m a real “coconutaholic.” I would gladly grow a few trees if it were possible at this latitude. But speaking of growing things — my small garden patch has become attractive to squirrels. I don’t have a pet, but am seriously considering getting one that will chase squirrels. Cat or dog? Any suggestions?

No one in my father’s side of the family liked coconut. To me, it tastes like little pieces of paper in my mouth. I don’t hate it, but why bother? I used to hate Brussels sprouts until I had some that were roasted. About the only flavor I hate is cilantro, because I have the gene that makes it taste like soap.

I love coconut, but just like you @chromosome, I hate cilantro. It doesn’t taste like soap to me; it tastes like bleach.
