Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Letâs just say I donât think this is the most appropriate time for Mrs D to be kneeling in front of Tracy with her face at the same height as his crotch.
Re: 3-Dâs body build. Great minds think alike. When I signed in, I checked for comments â nothing. Then after I commented and refreshed the page, assuming I might be the first commenter, I see your astute observation beat me by three minutes. Man, this commenting feature is SLOW.
Follow up to Flight Suitâs comment re: Mrs. D,B on her knees in panel 1. Sheâs praying to the great god, Two Way Wrist Radio, and will soon receive digital communion.
GoComics gave me a fit a bit earlier. I switched from IE8 to Firefox and still had problems. Might have been my browser rebelling against all the ads GoComics was trying to download.
Good memory, VistaBill. I never followed Lâil Abner but I was intrigued so I did some Googling and found this:
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/119750.html
âDouble whammyâ is often associated with Al Cappâs Liâl Abner cartoon strip, which featured the phrase several times. In that it referred to as an intense stare which had a withering effect on its victims. For example, this piece from Liâl Abner July 1951:
âEvil-Eye Fleegle is thâ name, anâ thâ âwhammyâ is my game. Mudder Nature endowed me witâ eyes which can putrefy citizens tâ thâ spot!. There is thâ âsingle whammyâ! That, friend, is thâ full, pure power oâ one oâ my evil eyes! Itâs dynamite, friend, anâ I do not târow it around lightly! ⌠And, lastly - thâ âdouble whammyâ - namely, thâ full power oâ both eyes - which I hopes I never hafta use.â
Maybe the Naperville Police Force should put Pappy Yokum on the case.
Panel-Panner said, ââŚâEvil-Eye Fleegle is thâ name, anâ thâ âwhammyâ is my game.â
You refreshed my memory Panel-Panner. Evil-Eye Fleegle was a character in âFeerless Fosdickâ. Al Cappâs âmake fun of Chester Gouldâs Dick Tracyâ that appeared once in a while. Fosdick was a real blunderer like the present day Tracy we know so well.
She kneels in answer to his fervent prayer
Tracy knows he has a player
Mrs. Trey-D has got the gift
She even IDâd the rotting stiff
But all is not fun and games
Her wealth has gone down in flames
But those are not worthy of merit
The real mystery, out, we must ferret
Look closely at the station
Your eyes are in for a sensation
The architecture is without rhyme
The art work is a crime
The doors, they face one way
The sign, their lead, does not obey
The building faces who knows where
God, it makes me want to swear
But we have been here before
And appears we are in for more
So what will we see next
At which we will be sorely vexed?
More plot filled with holes
Artwork in its last throes?
Yes, these things and more
Are for us, in store
So grab your bottle and take a swig
Then you wonât give a fig.
To those who left kind words, thank you.
My absence was just my moving from one state to another.
(I move real slow)
How did that new âPOLICEâ sign, now minus - âHdqtrsâ (or âHootersâ) JUMP down - one whole floor to rest atop the porte cochere entrance - AGAIN ?
They are bouncing the Sign around like a Ball
As an earlier reader noted, blocking natural light and vision from some upstairs offices.
Even the four door entrance has been morphed down to just two !
Hi Maxine, great to hear from you! I havenât disappeared, just spending my time with my ongoing Annie story. Doing my part to keep her spirit alive. I have six loyal readers, almost as much as Dr. Magpie and Nurse Tracy had! LOL. Hope all is well.
Bassman: You have more than six loyal readeres. Some of us donât post often - or maybe at all. Your story is very exciting and each installment leaves us wanting more. I remember the old time movie serials that brought you back for more. The writing is as good as there is and so much better than the most.
For any of you Liâl Abner fans of yesteryear, there is a comics website that re-runs that comic series. I go to it every day. (It has lots of other good comics as well.) Its URL is: http://comics.com (Note: there is no www in it.)
WW, always enjoy your poems. Glad youâre back and not mad or something.
Hope move went well. BTW, I had thought your name was windwriting, but today I noticed that the next to last letter is an h and havenât been able to think of a word to fit. If itâs your secret, thatâs all right.
Normally, a âtrollâ is someone who makes unflattering remarks in a forum where everyone else is praising somebody or something. The âtrollâ doesnât necessarily mean a word they say ⌠they have fun just by being contrary to popular opinion.
I think what we have here is known as a âbenign troll.â

How shall I put this?

From the dialogue it sounds like Mrs. DâBuckworth looked at the body in the morgue between yesterdayâs and todayâs strips.
Mrs. DâB: âItâs him, itâs his build. Before he died he looked badly decomposed.â

A double whammy for Mrs. DâB? She hasnât had one of those since her honeymoon.

I know Firefox has features galore but I seem to like IE8 and itâs behavior (or misbehavior) so I only use Firefox when I have a problem with IE8.

Tracy invited Mrs. DâBuckworth to his home last Thursday. Remember? Locher doesnât seem toâŚ.
On the other hand, both Mrs. DâBuckworth & Tracy have hands at the end of their arms today. A hand is a good thing to have at the end of your arm.
