Carrying a bag of lootUsed to be such a hootIn and out of the grocery storeSomething to do when life was a boreNever a problem at allThe cash at our beck and callThen suddenly a cloud blotted out all our funAn alien in yellow from area 51And now as if one wasn’t enoughThere’s two more and they’re looking mighty toughOh well I guess I know what is the dealBy tomorrow the state will be serving a hot meal!

And before anyone gets on your case for referring to Dick as an “alien,” I’d like to point out to all that it doesn’t mean “from outer space,” it means he is a visitor from another country.I’m pretty sure this is taking place in the USA, probably New York. Tracy and the others were seen in their hotel room packing, and talking about what Cuba is like (night life, etc.) Tracy looked out the window and saw the bank robbery in progress.
RE: Wunbrow’s cigar. it is odd that Tracy mentions it when we have so far not seen it. But, he had as part of his design when first introduced by Gould a skinny, bent cigar. In fact, it got him into serious trouble once, because he ditched it in a public ashtray outside a hotel door, and Miss Egghead spotted it and thus was waiting for him. He ended up in the hospital with serious knife wounds, which is one of the reasons Tracy went down to Cuba to help him out.

naw, no way in real life they have that witty conversation with a loaded gun still pointed at them, figuring that there’s three of them, two of the bad guys, so they win because one good guy will still be alive. And if the guy is a good shot, he could probably take two down right off the bat, anyways. (in fact, let’s get real…. in a lot of cases he’d be dead fish dead just for pointing it THAT long) Fun story, though :-)
Just a little warm-up for the Big Show coming down in Cuba, and even a touch of ironic humor.Betimes, being dour is the least of Porfiry’s issues, that treacherous spy!

I wouldn’t call Inspector Ivanov “dour.” I think in the Jan. 14 strip he had a hint of a smile. At least for him, it counted as a smile.

To the strip’s resident proofreader: Panel 2 should say “withdrawal,” not “withdrawl.”

Nice to see the Tracy still has his nerves of steel, being able to joke around with a gun in a very nervous hand pointed right at him.

So are these crooks supposed to be a reference to something or someone?

Don’t know if Double E is supposed to be a reference to anything. Anyone?
MikeCurtis Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Ken in Ohio. Bronson Canyon and his brother the Notorious Double E are friends of mine. Plus they enjoy robbing banks, at least in DICK TRACY.

I think Shelley did the banner at the top and updated it once (but needs to do it again), but I’m not sure who made the one on the right.
