Why does the artist/writer insist on Mimi mispronouncing everything everytime? She is not a character I care for because of that. It is not fun trying to read what she says, trying to figure it out.
I agree with all the comments about Mimi. It drives me nuts that I have to take time to de-code what she’s saying! It ruins the whole cartoon moment! Same when Elizabeth did it on FBOFW awhile ago….and the alligator on Pearls Before Swine.
Part of Mimi’s charm is the way she talks. She’s still growing into her vocal abilities, and I have no problem figuring it out any time. If the croc in Pearls Before Swine spoke ‘normally’, he would lose most of his ‘character’ and his purpose in the strip. Most of the PBS strips I save feature him.
I usually find it hard to figure out what Mimi is saying. I read the comments but subtitles would be great! Why hasn’t anybody translated “SNNZZXXKKZZ”? Must be the same as “ZZYZX” from Drabble (LOL)(It’s also a sign on the I-15 in CA! credit to Kevin Fagan, I remember it somewhere and now I know where)

I loved when my girls were little and could fall asleep on my lap. Now they’re my height; I could nap on THEIRS! (If I napped, that is…)

Does it bother anyone else that she has a huge vocabulary, but toddler pronunciation?

It might bother me (toddler pronunciation) if this were not a cartoon.

Yes, it used to really tick me off also, but if you slow down, relax and just sound it out phonetically, as it is written, it’s soooo much simpler.
