I never read Doonesbury as a kid, but I remember being away at college and seeing a big deal about the strip coming back with all the characters’ status quos having changed in the interval, and since it was carried in the campus paper, I started reading it. This is the first storyline I remember reading, like, ever.

ah yes. the story line where Uncle Duke becomes a Zombie. I remember that from waaay back in 1986.(then again I have a complete collection of all the Doonesbury books)
