It’s a “guy” thing!

I’m pretty sure the “guy” thing wasn’t in those pants when she ironed them!! :-)

Things get noticed when they get noticed. Then they become official.

Well, I guess it wasn’t wrinkled a week ago.

It might be safest to remove any heat from them at this point.

LOL! This is why I don’t care what DH wears. I am not his mother and if he wants to wear dirty, wrinkled pants for a week, that’s his problem, not mine!

Why look for more work to do? Let it go.

I wouldn’t be as worried about the wrincles after a week, but the smell they would have after a weeks worth of waring them. Now by ironing them that smell will be perminent

I’m betting those are his “comfy pants.” My husband works in the corporate world and as soon as he gets home, he switches to shorts or khaki’s… and since he only wears them for an hour or two most nights, they might get worn again the next day. That’s probably what John does too… I highly doubt he’d wear the same pair to work for 5 days (blech).

I wouldn’t be ironing either… but it does stink (possibly literally) that women get blamed for their husband’s fashion/hygeine issues.

A week! Why would he wear the same pair of pants for a week!? I can’t imagine that a dentist can’t afford to change them more often than every week. Gross!

At least your not going out with him! Then I would make him change!

Elly … I think it’s finally time to do some laundry around there! I know you’re a stay-at-home mom with a very active 2-year-old (and maybe a 7-year-old if he’s still out of school for the summer) but for heaven’s sake woman! It only take a couple of minutes to throw a load in the washer! I’d like to think that, as a dentist, John’s hygiene is better than this … that he’s been wearing the same pair of pants for an entire week because this was the cleanest pair he has because everything else is way dirtier … and not because he’s a lazy, disgusting, slob that can’t be bothered to wear a clean pair of pants to the office every day despite the need for cleanliness in his chosen profession! YUCK!!!!!

He’s not wearing them to his office. As Mirthiful said, they’re his at-home pants.

My wife has said a time or two, “If your clothes look messy, it makes me look bad.” “Only if you are wearing them.”

Besides, I do most of the laundry anyway, constantly rescuing her “gentle cycle” stuff from the normal cycle.

And NOBODY picks out or buys MY clothes but ME.

Elly, dear, pick your battles. He wants to go out wearing wrinkled pants, that’s up to him! ;)

Right on howtheduck, as well as the fact that she says to him “You can’t go out in those wrinkled pants”. Don’t think she would have said that if he were coming in for the evening.

Gretchensmom, if you insist on believing that John’s wearing disgusting pants to work is Elly’s fault and that he is far better than the sort of man who wears clothes that are so gross, than why didn’t he either wash them himself, take them to the cleaner or mention to Elly that he has no clean work pants? Obviously it doesn’t bother him as much as you want it to. Besides, as others have pointed out, Elly didn’t say the pants were dirty, she said they were wrinkled. He is a grown man and if he is competent enough to be a dentist, he is competent enough to be in charge of his own wardrobe. I don’t see why Elly should have to inspect him before he leaves the house.

I guess I just take some of these things personally (and yes, to all you “It’s-just-a-comic-get-a-lifer’s” out there, I DO know this is a comic, thank you very much!) due to stories my husband has told me about his previous wife. She was a stay-at-home wife and mom while he worked hard in construction all day long. He’d come home at the end of the day and find the house dirty, dishes in the sink, milk still out on the counter from breakfast, laundry not done … and wondering what in the world she had been doing all day long because obviously, she wasn’t taking care of the house. If he wanted clean clothes to wear or dinner to eat, then he had no choice but to do those things himself. Now I’m the stay-at-home wife and mom and I don’t think it’s right or fair that while he works hard to support our family, I should sit around on my butt all day eating “bon-bons”, watching the soaps, game and talk shows, and doing nothing to keep the house running, which is what my “job” is. Now, I’m not saying that’s what Elly does but I believe she ought to at least do the laundry to make sure everyone – including her husband – has clean clothes to wear on a daily basis.

Ouch and Yuck!!
