Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis for February 27, 2016
Transcript:
Pastis: What are you doing, Rat? Rat: Electrical work. I've taken you off the power grid and put ou on an alternative source of energy. Pastis: You mean like solar? Rat: No. I've figure out a way to turn laughter into energy. So from now on, your house here will be powered by all the laughs you create with a comic strip. I'll put you back on the power grid.

Oh come on!There should at least have been a flicker.

Is that a hard hat or a chamber pot on Rat’s head?
Kali39 about 9 years ago
Look, Rat, you should have known this before you started.
aardvarkseyes about 9 years ago
Rat could have been making a point…it’s hard to tell in the dark.
Templo S.U.D. about 9 years ago
Well, laughter worked as a new power source than screaming at the end of film “Monsters, Incorporated.”

How did SP’s desk get wider in panel 2?
Kaputnik about 9 years ago
And Pastis has saved nearly 50% of the energy he would have expended on drawing this strip (a point he’s made about black panels in some of his treasury books).
knight1192a about 9 years ago
What isn’t seen is that in the third panel Pastis beat the &%$^@ out of Rat. And Rat, looking like Bettle Bailey in the fourth panel after Sarge beats him up, is thinking better of his idiotic idea.

Good one!

Maybe this will help: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

The reluctant grandparents lit up my house for days….
juicebruce about 9 years ago
This is sort of what came first the chicken or the egg? If the power comes from laughing how can you have a good laugh if you can not see the strip……………..
Sisyphos about 9 years ago
I trust Cartoon-Boy has been properly chastened by this turn of events. The heart of the darkness is the bright light of revelation. It’s pun-punishment, the wages of dim wit….Carry on.
Sandfan about 9 years ago
A typical Pastis pun would power the strip for a week.
whiteheron about 9 years ago
Also known as the " Theroy Theory"

Pastis just got an electrical burn.
Eanor about 9 years ago
Groans. He needs groan power.

A fate common to many alternate powers sources. I wonder if rat got a gummint grant for this one.
Dancin_fish about 9 years ago
@ derdave969..They must be a strained couple.
Stocky One about 9 years ago
They should have had me hooked up. I laughed heartily!

Not so fast. Call CERN. Rat might have created a black hole. Pastis really does suck.

Rat may have a point. I’ve enjoyed this strip for years, but I don’t think it has ever made me laugh out loud as some strips have. It doesn’t happen often.
abbybookcase about 9 years ago
poor cartoon boy!
Lyons Group, Inc. about 9 years ago
Same could be said about Daddy’s Home and Frog Applause.
pjejurikar about 9 years ago

Ermine Notyours about 9 years ago

do more political stuff and run the electric on long winded, harsh, or name calling comments and you should be able to run for years and years and years without ever having to be funny – just a thought if you are looking to get off the grid that is :)
Ikemeister about 9 years ago
LOL I think Cartoon boy is being too hard on himself. That was downright funny! Surely the lights come on in frame 5.
tazz555 about 9 years ago
a snickered a little does that help….though it was more towards of the idea that there would be laughter involving his strip
Jeff0811 about 9 years ago
I admit I did not read the above comments, I know this had to have been said already, going to say it again, “Well that brightened my day”.

Did Stephen get divorced in the dark third panel?
RonBerg13 Premium Member about 9 years ago
No!!! Wait. Those last 2 panels were excellent!
dukeallen about 9 years ago
