One time my daughter’s Godmother took her back-to-school shopping. When they were done, the Godmother – a VERY conservative lady – took me aside, telling me that she wanted me to know what my daughter picked for a First Day outfit. It was “Monster High”. I explained to her how the whole thing about Monster High was accepting those who are different and being true to oneself: “Be yourself, be unique…be a monster!” Once she knew that I was OK with it…she was, well, sorta OK with it.
