The baby should start drinking early to prepare for college!

Still accepting bets on whether The End strikes when Holly is opening the boxes of nappies, or the third box of breast milkers.

This may indeed be an explanation of how Holly lost her baby, but let me repeat the prediction I made the other day, in case some readers did not see it.

She didn’t “lose the baby” in the traditional sense! She gave a successful birth and the baby mutated into a monster and Holly morphed into her mouse form because she was sedated by drugs! That’s why she was so upset when Flask killed the monster child! Hot Dog! I figured it out! You heard it first here, folks!

Perhaps they all got drunk, and mutated while passed out cold. The contents of the party cart would shame a wet bar…

The facial expressions on Holly are very well done.

She really was quite cute (and still is in a somewhat furry way ;-)

Sure, shower the baby with alcohol. People will be too wasted, and noone will notice being transformed.

However she lost her babyin Holly’s mind this event is pivotal to that reason. She may not truly be responsible but because of the events at this party she blames herself.

Previous to water sanitation pretty much all our European ancestors drank were wine and small beers…. some drinks in moderation isn’t going to harm anyone.

Boy does this ever remind me of Detroit in the 60’s and 70’s. Pregnant women got drunk, some on a regular basis. None ever lost a baby because of it. A quote from my neighbor- “I’m two weeks overdue. I’m going to get drunk on Southern Comfort, that usually starts my labor.” Might explain the following generation.

Stop worrying about what Holly drinks. At my baby shower there was rum n Coke…I drank plain Coke.Pregnant women do what is good “for the baby”.

Davidf42, your prediction would necessitate Holly mutating well after the baby. From what we’ve seen before, they would have mutated together, as Holly would not have left the baby with anyone (she’s a first time mother)

If she drinks at this party, I’m inclined to go with: she passes out, mutates and loses the baby in the process.Shortly after which her community is bombed into oblivion, and she rises from the rubble.

I get that Wile E. Coyote feeling all the time.Holly is at six months. This is the Christmas right before The End. I don’t think the baby is going to get another three months. Logically, she’s going to miscarry, probably due to her mutation. We know now that this world has a Sweden. It would have to. Every world has Swedish meatballs to go with its gin and tonic, so there must be a Sweden.

I don’t believe that either Sarah or Kirbee were at this party. For starters, Holly as a human bears enough of a resemblance to her rodent self that I would have trouble believing that one of her friends would see her mutated self, know that her name is Holly and not think of their premutant friend. Besides, Kirbee has given no indication that she has ever been in Hillside, she didn’t know what “debt communities” were and her comments during the air car ride suggest that she was seeing the city for the first time. As far as Sarah is concerned, she is probably preparing for the great mutation.

The traditional meaning of losing the baby may not be what happened. Going back to the attempt by Captain Flask to destroy the Topsider outpost we were centered on Linda’s reaction and pleading Captain Flask not to do it for the sake of her son. This may have also made Holly realize her own child may have been in there. My guess: Holly’s child is alive and not mutated. Here’s a twist. Holly changed at the time of birth but the baby didn’t because the baby is immune and the hospital staff know about immunities so the child is wearing an outfit he/she doesn’t need.

An alcohol induced miscarriage… Nah, I bet the baby is born a mutant and gets taken away, and this is why all the crazy as a sack of bats Mouse of today exists..

The stuff some of our ancestors drank as a regular substitute for water, was not hard liquor. Grape juice doesn’t last long without refrigeration, but it takes time to get really potent. Hard liquor is not good for pregnant women and their babies. I have grave feelings about Holly and her baby’s future. Aaron, you are a superb story teller, writer, & illustrator. Thank you!

I am reminded of a refrain from the book “Cosmic Bandidos” where the main character, a contrabandista who is trying to back away from doing drugs does so due to the social pressure from his comrades. I could see Holly getting pressured into getting drunk, passing out and having a miscarriage. She wakes up as one of the lucky few who didn’t turn into a monster but feels that her child paid the price of her good fortune. That is only one possibility of course, Aaron writes in mysterious ways.

What I see here is a 1950’s type of society. This drinking while pregnant was common back in that time as fetal alcohol syndrome link had not been established.A little drink was not considered at all bad in fact my mother was encouraged to partake when she was carrying me as a way to ease morning sickness and daily nausea. Alcohol was the relaxation formula to take the edge off.I wonder if the one pushing the Party Cart is going to mutate into a pink pony who loves parties??
