Whew! Safe landing, saved by the lightpole. Any guesses what that sign says?

No I don’t think so. There has been no evidence of anyone mutating yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if she loses the baby though I thought there was some evidence that she actually gave birth and lost it shortly afterwards.

I guess now isn’t a good time to ask for the pilot’s insurance papers.

Doggone it, I just love Kirbee. She’s holding on tight to Wally and Chick to protect them. Why don’t flying cars have seatbelts?

Unfortunately, that’s the lower levels of the same building the plane hit. Well, it’s a safe bet she may be unconscious for a while… Looks like a “wake up in the hospital” sort of moment. ;-)

Maybe some one loaded a bunch of Buddyboms and flew at the building since there are lots of loose Buddybombs in the air.

I’m thinking that if she loses the baby here, it’s not because of the crash. She’s carrying an enormous load of guilt related to her loss, so I doubt that something caused by someone else is going to produce that level of angst. Sadness, grief, sorrow, yes, but not that “Oh my god I did this!” self-flagellation.

In the last strip they were heading towards a domed building. The sign reads “drink Pep-cola”. I’m guessing this is Pep-cola stadium.

I just love Kirbee grabbing Wally…..his look is WHAT THE??One thing I did notice is Holly is not wearing a safety belt…..maybe a lap belt but no shoulder.Colliding with that steering wheel in her abdomen is not going to do her any good. I know as I have worked enough crashes to see the damage that wheel can do.Now the vehicle may have passenger protection like air bags or foam but that is conjecture….another thing Lin might not have spent the money on.I do love one unique detail which just shows Aaron the fine artist he is……notice the light bulb flying from the light pole??I just wonder did it hit one of the tall buildings? The fire and impact will do like it did on 9-11. Trap the people above the crash point, fire and impact weakens the structure, and it all comes down. How many here remember the horror of watching folks jumping from those high levels on 9-11. We were being fed live law enforcement feeds the public never saw.Horrible choice…..choke to death on the smoke, burn to death, or close your eyes, wish you were home….and jump.

I’m not sure, but in panel 2, it looks like the plane was turning into dust. Could this be the beginning of the radiation that turned most of the known world into a dust bowl?

And this is where we might see the Hero of Pep Cola Stadium. Walter Trimble may have earned that name with this incident instead of the mutant round-up.

If this is considered an attack and mutants are blamed for it, rounding them up in the stadium may be symbolic retribution, similar to rounding up Muslims on the grounds of the World Trade Center if enough of it were intact. It wouldn’t happen in our world (I’d like to hope), but Hillside seems to be that kind of place.

Kirbee’s reaction in panel 1 shows how powerful these illusions are. They have seen the world around them suddenly change several times, arriving at Ernie’s, the ride home, the baby shower ect… They have every reason to know this isn’t REALLY happening. Still, Kirbee is panicing and Wally and Chic look scared. This has to feel so real that the true reality doesn’t matter.

One propeller goes flying off, but the other one still seems to be spinning at full speed. Doesn’t bode well, and I can hardly wait until Monday to find out what happens next. Will we see the aftermath of the crash, or be sent into another new scene in this scenario?

I like the retro look of things, the air cars and planes are prop jobs but the buddy bombs and weapon tech is super advanced. kind of like an old 1950’s sci fi comic. very nice.

I am working today at the office……painters are in to try to add more paint to hold this building together.Lin may not be in the building…….he could be on the plane. Holly was heading to the airport to pick him up after doing some shoppingEither way I think Lin is toast…..or tiny bits of meats. This event is going to change Holly’s situation. With Lin gone I doubt APEX is going to keep funding to keep her silent. I imagine this society probably puts little into anything a female says…..like the old stereotype days of the 50’s. Lin being a male would be more believable so with him gone no need to make any attempt to keep Holly silent. If she does get all talkative about monsters they would probably have her picked up and sent to place for relaxation and support…..the local psychiatric hospital. The high life they have been living is fixing to come to an end.

In the sequence of scenes presented to us, remember that they are not necessarily all closely following one after the next. We’re not talking about months, of course. But we could be seeing something a week or two after the Buddibombs baby shower. Holly is driving with wrapped packages in the car. I can’t imagine they are her baby shower gifts being taken anywhere. But they’re beautifully wrapped, and so I suspect she’s been hitting the stores for more retail therapy, courtesy of her new-found income, I thought for a moment that she had walked out on Lin and was driving away from home, but surely she would have taken something more practical than her armful of gifts. And of course she would have taken her child-friendly grenades at the very least. One thing that’s a little worrying is the way Holly assumes their Apex hush money is here to stay. It’s going to be a reliable income forever. I didn’t get the impression that it was a one-off lump sum, although it sounds like the outstanding debts have been wiped away. However, if the ongoing payments from Apex stop, they’ll be in big trouble. For example, if monsters and mutants do get out and into the public awareness, there will be no more value in Holly’s and Lin’s silence. Apex could stop the payments and the couple couldn’t do a thing about it. Still, knowing the amorality Apex is capable of, Holly and Lin could be in greater danger of being permanently silenced in an arranged ‘accident’, if they didn’t comply meekly with the terms and conditions.

Also… Note the brightness of the blast. I’m fairly sure we’ve seen what planes look like when plowing into buildings.

The blast looks awfully bright. Almost like a zero ray.Or an aerosolized mass weapon attack when illuminated from behind.

A quick note about traffic poles. Many years ago, a traffic signal that I was responsible for, suddenly lost one of it’s heads. (3 light, 36"long assy.) Couldn’t find it anywhere, just dangling wires. One of the airport workers reported seeing a UPS semi trying to pull off a U-turn at the intersection and hit the pole. It whipped, and snapped off the head, which landed on the top of the truck. I went to the UPS depot, after calling. They found the head. In this case, the damage to the pole was minimal, but the length gave it a serious lever advantage. Cracked the casting and ripped the wires out. Beyond repair. This guy was only moving 5-10 MPH, if that. Whiplash! Street light poles tend to be lighter duty than an overhead traffic light pole, tho.

Agreed on the ‘blast’ effect. That’s a lot of extra energy from something.
