It’s so hard to enjoy pictures nowadays when there are soooo many. I stick them on facebook or my blog so people can enjoy them at their own discretion.

And in the year 2025 it will be full immersion 3-D with sensory attachments and you will be TRAPPED in an endless loop!

Now if you are an uncivil intruder s e l l i n g junk, please sit down for an endless loop!

Sigh Such limited time left and the beginning of another lame story arc for this week…

I was really hoping for far better as the end approaches.

If I share any of my photos, it’s only for a major vacation and typically only about 5 or so. If you can’t narrow your photos down to the big highlights, then everyone else is bored to tears.

    Ms. Guisewite nailed this one.

We have friends who send us e-mails with a link to their latest vacation snapshots – usually 100+ per trip. It’s not so bad when they’re actually good photographers, who pick and choose what pictures they put online – some people put in every multiple tilted, out-of-focus shot of what-the-heck-was-that. But really, how many great pictures can you look at of someone else’s experience?

I reckon the number of photos taken is often in inverse proportion with how good the holiday was. If you’re busy having great experiences, you probably have neither time nor opportunity to take many pictures.

“Oh, we met this man at the airport. Forget his name but we talked for 15 minutes. Oh, this next shot is the hot dog I dropped.”

After each of my epic cross-country motorcycle adventures, I pick out a small set of really good photos, with an eye toward telling the story. I get these printed, stick ‘em in an album with written commentary of the journey, and leave them on the coffee table for guests to read, skim, or ignore as they see fit.

Ultimately, the real purpose of these is so that when I’m 85 and in the Home with senile dementia, I can read through these albums and say, “Boy, did that guy have an interesting life. I wonder who he was?”

When Cathy and Irving are in the Home, do you think they’ll be going through boxes of digital camera memory cards and saying, “Oh, I remember when we filled up this one…”

Getting those vacation pictures emailed from well meaning friends is as bad as those boring, bragging, yearly Christmas news letters.

So true, GrimmaTheNome. I have noticed it with parties - when I am having fun, I’m not taking any pictures (only maybe one or two towards the end when I suddenly remember my MIL will ask for them).

A relative I don’t get along with did that last one to me. I agreed because he vacationed with another relative whose feelings I didn’t want to hurt.

My best friend takes a lot of vacations just to take pictures. She’s a member of the Yankee Photography Club so most of her pics are wonderful to look at. She takes wildlife shots that look like they are right in front of you. We love them. My other friend on the other hand, only gets 1 good pic out of every 20 she takes. She’s beheaded more people then Henry The 8th.

davis, that is indeed the exception to the rule - if your passion is wildlife photography. And I bet your friend edits rather than showing you the original thousands.

i let myself take hundreds and hundreds of photos but i edit them severely. and by edit, i mean, delete the ones that aren’t very very special. those are the only ones i save period and i put even fewer online. seems people are more interested in looking at albums with only 10 or so photos! :D
