I wonder if my widowed aunt (here in Clark County, Washington) feels the same way… of course she had always been in there before my father’s brother passed away.

Well there is a reason why so many men die before their wives. They want to! :P

Could it be that old men just don’t want to be where there’s a concentration of old women?

Senior citizens’ complexes are great, providing you have enough money to pay for them. They are definitely NOT cheap here.

It’s not just “no old men.” The real lack is young people.

That’s what happens when women outlive men. Our golden years get fiercer on the dating circuit.

no America is 4th world country. if only we could be like 3rd worlders. lol Men are designed to die early, after reproducing. Women live longer to take care of the offspring. Life is the way it is.

Around here there are about a half dozen “senior” apartment buildings, all of which are income based, and all of which have a 2 year waiting list. None of them are assisted living, just seniors only. We also have several very nice senior centers in town, and that’s where the activities, joint lunches and outings come in. All in all, Henderson likes senior citizens and takes care of them.

seniors living is not that high. ASSISTED living is high. They have apartment areas for seniors only that are often subsidized. But they get no care. Assisted gets help

-Back in the day, when there was no such thing as birth control and no one knew about operations such as caesarian sections, a lot of women died in childbirth. Improvements in medical care have reduced this significantly (although a frighteningly high percentage of women die in childbirth in the US, due to lack of access to medical care, since even those with insurance can find that maternal care and childbirth are not covered expenses.)

Another medical discovery has been that women, with two X chromosomes, are sometimes better able to fight off such diseases as cancer. Whereas men, who have a Y and an X, do not have a ‘backup’ X chromosome to help when cells age.

It used to be thought that women’s estrogen was what protected them from earlier onset of heart disease, which was why estrogen was routinely prescribed after menopause. However, that hypothesis was not only defeated by actual studies, but it was found that administering additional estrogen after menopause increased the chances of certain types of cancers.

More research is needed, but the double X may have something to do with it, according to Tom Perls, founder of New England Centenarian Study…

Our clever government instituted a grant to seniors to offset the cost of assisted living. The assisted living industry immediately raised their prices to offset the grant.

Night-Gaunt49Has GoComics instituted some size limit on posting without telling us? I would assume antiseptics and anesthetics were two of the main ones, but I would be interested in seeing your list.
