Could she be more “fun”, possibly. But she might have tried it in the past and it ended badly, so this is her approach. Also in my personal example you get way more space to do things your way if your do it their way.

I’m still thinking about what the seventh-graders said about Mrs. Godfrey when Nate and Trudy were dating; scoffing about how they THOUGHT Mrs. Godfrey was tough – this is some hints as how tough the teachers are in seventh grade.

To think that there is a tougher, meaner, stricter teacher than Mrs. Godfrey is only a year away….?
