Even Calvin tried to show Hobbes his comic strip of a snowman in his snow car saying, “Dang it, the engine froze up!” Hobbes points out the snow car’s engine would melt. Either way, the car wouldn’t start.

When I was 8 or 9 I made my own newspaper. It had a front page, local news, sports, weather, and a few comic strips…all written by yours truly (slightly “borrowed” from our regular newspaper, except the comics; THOSE were originals). I had one subscriber: one of my older brothers. Every day I’d deliver the newspaper by sliding it under his bedroom door. It lasted for a few days, anyway. (I know he read it because we’d talk about it later.)

It wasn’t until I saw this strip, in a book reprint, that I had some clue about the actual size comics were drawn in, before being reduced for newspapers.

    Even the doll isn’t amused…

At a first glance, I thought the lines besides Patty’s elbow represented the movement of her pulling her doll away from CB (from where it is sitting in panel 3). (In panel 2 I thought it was a bow.)
