It’s a woolly worm. Quick, what color is it?

Should only be two days until a new friend comes to town.

somewhat similarly, Calvin once mistook a few coins going down a hole in his pocket for something else creepy going down his leg

Shouldn’t he be a crosswalk usher?

It’s a processionary caterpillar…which strikes fear into the hearts of gardeners all over my country.

Good thing Linus isn’t there, or it might also be a queen snake.

This is the earliest strip I saw in an old Peanuts book.

I don’t mind, as long as it’s not a Gypsy Moth caterpillar. I was a teenager when the big Gypsy Moth Caterpillar “plague” happened. You couldn’t walk anywhere without crunching hundreds of those little buggers under your feet, and every tree had a plastic-wrap wrapping around the middle of the trunk. shudder

Had something similar happen to me when I was three years old. In my case, it was a black cicada with red eyes, out looking for love, cranked up to eleven. I was suspicious of that particular stretch of sidewalk next to the shrubs between us and our neighbor’s place for years afterwards…

Oh! I remember this one when it was in the papers! Thought of it the other day when there was a piece of fuzz on the patio.

Those guys are fun to look at before they become a butterfly or a moth.
