Dunno. It goes way back to when Kyle was drawing. There’s been Grouch noses, Super Mario, pantomime horses, leprechauns, Mr. Sta-Puf, Avatar, pajamas… more than I can think of right now.
I think that the “Colonel Sanders” KFC is currently using in the franchise’s commercials is just plain downright creepy. The original was a much friendlier and nicer guy to watch on TV.

Not a gun toting Colonel but…Sanders was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1935 by Kentucky governor Ruby Laffoon. Wikipedia
