Whoa. Will Putty Puss be able to (unintentionally) stall long enough for Tracy, Sam and Asp to arrive?Or will Screwball shoot Putty Puss, and Putty Puss’ last “face” be Screwball, telling Tracy whodunit? This is good.
Here is Cueball from when he got arrested way back so you can compare with Putty Puss’s portrayal:
I think that PP is just playing. For him, this is just fun. He doesn’t truly understand the danger he is in. He’s just looking to show off his abilities. Screwball is just plain confused.
For those thinking that Putty Puss might be too ‘Classic’ a character to be casually offed, consider this …
A few days ago, the docs at Happydale had referenced another Gould-era villain, Haf-n-Haf, in context.
Where Putty Puss is an approximate equivalent of the Batman villain ‘Clayface,’ Haf-n-Haf is an almost direct riff on a different, though similarly-named Batman rogue, ‘Two-Face’ – whose features were disfigured by acid.
Here’s what I’m wondering …
Might the docs, in an attempt to restore Haf-n-Haf’s features, have somehow ‘Frankensteined’ him into a second Putty Puss?
He sings more when he’s under stress or committing a crime. The fact that he’s stopped singing means he’s not stressed out at the moment. He either doesn’t realize that his life is in danger or else he’s so preoccupied with showing off his face-changing ability that he’s forgotten that his life was just threatened.
PP could be doing this as a stall. As just playing innocently of the danger.d
I don’t think he’s intentionally stalling. He’s just having fun showing off. The fact that this amounts to stalling may be useful if Sam and Tracy can get there soon.
Hey, this storyline is really going great…..why am I only comment #27? Anyways, I think Putty Puss’s mental incapacity is being greatly overestimated. My money is on him shrewdly either convincing Screwball to use him in a robbery, or him killing Screwball instead….and escaping Tracy by being him or someone else. (still love that story of him putting Tracy in a wax museum….)
Intentionally or not Putty Puss has broken Screwball’s concentration and at least delayed his execution; maybe Tracy and company will arrive in time to lock down this attempted revenge-killing. Screwball pretty clearly is hesitant to shoot “himself,” and the presence of two Screwballs if and when Tracy arrives could complicate formal arrest….

Putty Puss seems oddly more rational in his insanity today.
