Nothing lives forever — especially individual computers. Still it makes me sad somehow what happened to Compaq. It is some comfort to feel that my HP desktop looks like something built by Compaq and just has the HP logo stuck on it. It also helps that I used and liked HP electronic test equipment long before there were personal computers.
Wish I knew the date this ’toon first ran. Hard to remember that Apple nearly folded, Jobs was fired and blamed for the failure of Apple. He formed his own company (again) to design and sell computers that were miles ahead of their time. Now as a result of his creative vision, we have iPhones and a company valued at more than $1 trillion that has transformed what we do and how we do it! I think Jobs got the last laugh!

The image of a CEO of a bust corporation jumping out of a high story window is well known from comedic fiction, but has it ever happened in real life?
