I think Harry Caray might even agree with the boys on this from time to time. It would explain the rumor that he would knock back a beer each inning or half inning of a game while calling for the Cards in the ‘50s and ’60s and later on in Chicago for the Chi Sox and then Cubs after he had to leave St Louis for an alleged affair with August Busch’s wife Susan in the late ’60s. Have to admit he did sound half in the bag on some of those long afternoon games on WGN and he did send out some zinger commentary from time to time that would get him in hot water nowadays.

Going to a baseball game is the only way you can have an outing and an inning at the same time.

And need a second mortgage to pay for parking, admission, refreshments, and souvenirs to watch over-paid posers strut and split with ownership the profits on a diluted product – A Former Fan.

Never was a baseball fan. I’d rather watch paint dry.

People who say baseball is boring have never learned how to watch a game. There is much more action per minute of a baseball game than of any other sport.

Die hard fans can hardly contain their excitement with each pop fly or foul ball.

As one who coached my 2 sons for many years, watched many a years of the Red Sox’s. There are great moments of the game of baseball, but it is not a thrill a moment time!

Yes, the 7th inning stretch was invented so that people could make it to the end of the game without having to be woken up by the arena workers

I’m no fan of playing or watching, live or on TV. But it is a indelible memory of my young childhood. We moved into a post-WWII little town just southwest of Chicago. The streets weren’t even paved yet and we had to go the post office to get our mail. So summer was the smell of roadtar and the sound of baseball (daytime only, of course) in a living room with only Venetian blinds to keep out the summer heat (and our first couple of summers in Chicago were BRUTAL). My father would go out to mow the lawn between innings and I’d bring him out a glass of beer, from which I was allowed to take a small sip. When it got too hot, he’d bring himself and the beer back inside to cool off. Sweet memories of such odd construction!

Unless your team is covered by Bally or Sinclair Sports, then you’ll only be able to watch them if you are willing to shell out big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

A second pitch that quickly? Wow, baseball used to go a lot faster than it does today.

Baseball ceased being “America’s Pastime” many years ago. I lost interest easily 50 years ago, with only sporadic bursts of passing, temporary interest since then….

So, I agree with the guys: Zzzzzzzz….
