“I’m Dan Rather, and you’re not.”

Oh man….. I can still remember this. Dan Rather was promoted in 1981 after Walter Cronkite retired. Cronkite’s famous sign-off was “…and that’s the way it is” followed by the date. Dan spent some time trying to figure out how to end his broadcasts.

I recall when he was doing that… even then, it was annoying as h*ll.

Remember when this was important to people?

And that’s the way it was.

Remember “Kenneth, what is the frequency?”

Jim Carrey, Truman show: Good morning, and in case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night.

“Let’s be careful out there.”

“Game over, man!”

“And that’s the name of that tune!”

“Here’s looking at you, kid.”

“May the force be with you.”

“Theere’s Danny!”

I don’t remember who proposed that Rather sign off every night with “Pour the scotch, Lydia, I’m coming home.”

Uncle Walter was a tough act to follow.

“That’s all I’ve got for tonight. Go away now!”

I kinda share the opinion of Mr. Penguin Opus. Rather never sold me….
