News is just former shadow of itself. What was once a process of vetting sources and making sure that what was printed was factual is long gone. Now, it’s a rush to see who can get that headline out first, no matter the facts or lack thereof, just to get the views. Then, it’s a rush to see who can print the correction first, again, without finding if that source was factual. Sensationalism at its finest.
The only job protected by the Constitution, and for good reason — pun intended.
Dang shame editorial opinion started infecting information dissemination (hasta la vista, Fairness Doctrine, thanks to Ronnie St, Reagan)…
… and now we have widespread propaganda efforts (gee, thanks Faux News) and outright wacko conspiracy-theory lunatics and their websites masquerading as journalists.
RIP just-the-facts reporting over most of these channels and outlets.
Fake news. No video or audio recordings of the proposal. Even if there were, enough denials of them would make many people believe them to be fake news.

No need to wear a tux. He was born (or hatched) wearing one, and he still has it on.

JournalisM has its problems, — it’s become too sensationalistic for one — but it’s still a valuable part of society.
Much of the criticism comes from people who don’t want to believe the facts that are printed. They only trust the lies politicians say.

Isn’t anybody going to wonder about Opus’s impending marriage? Did he propose to Lola Granola? Is it someone else?
