My longstanding contention is that the majority of self-proclaimed “Christians” venerate Santa Claus in the same fashion as they “worship” Jesus: as some vague secular premise completely devoid of any spiritual meaning whatsoever.

Some people will find ANY “reason” not to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, when the reality is they enjoy their sin, and don’t want it exposed in the light. But it is futile, for the light will expose everything that is done in secret. Their sin WILL find them out.

37 years ago, and it hasn’t gotten any better since.
