Pig: Can I help you?
Man: Yes. I'm Noah. I've returned to gather everyone worthy of redemption onto my ark and save them from the rising seas.
Pig: Who do you have so far?
Noah: My dog skippy.
Pig: Hard times ahead.
Noah going through each promising-looking neighborhood, asking aroundâŠâYou know, sometime within the next 1,000 years or so, we are going to, probably, have another Flood! I mean, the way Sea Level has been rising, lately. So. Want to come on board my Arc?âOr, words to that general effectâŠSo. Do you want to get on board? Well, as for me, personally: I think Iâll pass.
True; why doesnât NOAA stick with the same data sets forever? Itâs not like we can ever learn anything more, or that scientific knowledge isnât frozen in time. After all, one guy in the â70s said we might be headed for an ice age. He must have been right. Right?
Technically this is an ice age right now (see âQuaternary glaciationâ), and has been for the past 2.5 million years. Currently weâre in an interglacial period which should last for another 50,000 to 200,000 years by the looks of things, unless we change the environment too muchâŠwhich we may have already done.

Somebody give him directions to Diogenesâ place. I would but I am a bit too cynical to think it will do any good.

My partial list of things that Noah should have left off the ark starts with mosquitoes and wasps. How about yours?

Depressing, eh, Pig? Well, just remember, thereâs a calm before the storm and a lot of rain in every big, dark cloudâŠ.

Thanks, Pastis, for a comedic revisiting of an old fairy tale! Do some Aesopâs for us. Rat would be a natural.
