I attended the local community college as an adult. My young teenage daughters went to class with me one day; as I was studying in the library before class, they walked to the cafeteria, coming back all wide eyed and giggling because they had the privilege of watching several college students streak across the courtyard. That’s when I had to try to explain the concept of a fad, and why they should not get involved in that particular one!
I once streaked underwater, the glass bottom boat in Ala Wai boat harbor in Honolulu!!! Facebook hadnʻt been invented yet. But I got a standing ovation!
I don’t get why she deleted his friend request. Assuming he’s just as mature and grown-up as she is now, why judge him for something they all participated in when they were younger and more immature?
I don’t know…I’ve friended many old friends that shared embarrassing experiences with me in the past. Most of the time we don’t even bring it up because it’s not a big deal.
Comics fan..You’re bizarre experiences (which I don’t believe for even 1000th of a nano second) in education at the primary and secondary levels, and you’re lack of knowledge of the TWO purposes of Junior colleges, which we now call community colleges, shows you have no idea of the subject…One purpose was the two year associates degree, sort of like training for a job…Mechanics, dental hygienists, beauticians, heating and cooling, carpentry, tool and die, etc…Basically job training..All secure jobs, too…..Auto repair? ..How can you ship that job overseas?…….. The other purpose has always been to provide college requirements at a cheaper price. I took two years of my education degree fro half price…You don’t need a professor with a Phd. to teach techniques for teaching elementary math to inattentive students…They provide college level versions of the sciences, literature, more than just the basics, or the over view that you get in secondary schools….My junior college taught the same curriculum as the 100 and 200 subject levels that WMU taught…The programs were set up to the same standards…For that, you have to be college material, for sure. Community colleges have never been designed to be remedial classes for people who didn’t pay attention in High school…
@Varnes.. Thank you for that excellent explanation of community colleges. After reading so many negative comments by you know who,I thought the whole college system South of 49 was in disarray! In Canada the community colleges have a very high job placement rate after graduation, and are highly respected.
I was told, streaking had been around for many years at small east-coast colleges from the ‘50s through the ’70s. Those streakers always wore sneakers and a ski-mask. When streaking reached its peak of popularity, it was those who thought they’d be brave and go maskless that led to the end of the fad. The anonymity kept it from becoming too famous, but the switch to popular exhibitionism led to fad overkill. Good or bad? Who can say?

I believe that is supposed to be Janis as a college student in the middle of frame two. Mr. Jessup was a co-participant.

All the men are running with their forward leg raised, but Janice is running with her forward arm raised. What’s up with that?

Janis is clearly embarrassed about her past (which Arlo might not be aware of) and wants to bury it, which was easier in the pre Facebook age.
