Was surprised to see the sticker on my diploma that said Honor Roll on it. I had no idea it would be on there.

How about allowing them to provide inspiration for each other?“Self” esteem comes from the reflection of a positive accomplishment, not from the false image of “participation trophies”. Eventually, the real world will make people realize that they are worth exactly what was required to earn them.
