So Duke was actually born to a woman. There goes the theory that he was dropped from an alien planet. Oh, well…

Typical Pro-Choice party line. Day one of life is when you’re born, up till then you’re not alive so it’s OK to abort.

If Duke and Donald Trump hadn’t been around in this strip for so long, I could write a nice essay on the theme that Duke is a symbolic character representing Trump.

Cute gag by this time int he strip; but when Duke first joined the cast, he wasn’t yet wearing shades. That took a while to become a permanent trademark.

The religious views of posters on abortion are of no relevance, especially since they contradict the writings of those religions. Most of it is deduced from statements that actually say something different.

Oh good grief…. women choosing to end their pregnancies is not remotely the same as genocide. Get a freakin’ clue, man.

Wow, only 5 posts to derail the discussion to something that has nothing to do with the comic.Mark Manson wrote an article called “Living in the Age of Outrage” which was interesting reading, IMHOhttp://markmanson.net/outrage

@ Cripplious: The mother does look like a Doonesbury. Maybe Thomas Scott Roberts can verify – I thought that the first time Duke was introduced Zonker said that he was an honorary Uncle and not actually related. To much of a coincidence for him to be Mike’s uncle I think. Those long skinny noses are quite common in the strip.

rlcooke: I think Duke predates Trump’s fame. I always thought he was a Hunter S. Thompson stand-in – I just checked the name and some of the photos look an awfully lot like Duke.

I’m wondering who will serve God the papers to appear for all the spontaneous abortions he causes? Sure in the vernacular we use a “nicer” term and call them miscarriages, but medically they’re abortions. .Oh wait, just like Columbia, Trump wants to punish the women— so when you loose you baby you go to jail. Alabama, South Carolina, and Mississippi already do that. May I suggest that if you LIKE to jail women who have lost a baby for CHOOSING to NOT terminate a down syndrome fetus that you go live there.

I’ve always wondered most at people SCREAMING over the 1 million or so medically induced abortions in the US while happily ignoring the 13 million in China. Which, are MANDATED by Chinese government thanks to the 1 2 child policy. Which means those who WANT to keep their babies are made to abort them, it’s Anti-choice AND Anti-life. .Oh, and thanks to the government being communist, when you buy products made in China, YOU ARE PAYING for FORCED CHINESE ABORTIONS..Now walk into Hobby Lobby and pick up the nativity scene they’ve already put out. Where does it say it’s made?.ps. I buy US made, or at least Tawain or France or Canada. But NOT Chinese.

I find it outrageous that, in the post, names that seem to imply gender the anti-choice are overwhelmingly male.

Get a grip. As a guy raised in Catholic church/schools I have to say: “Her body, her decision.”

The guys here saying that it’s not her body(it’s something living inside her) obviously never knew a pregnant woman. Not that it’s even a point but what happens to a womans organs, hormones, emotions, etc are life changing.

neatslob said,@DavidHuieGreen“After God formed man in Genesis 2:7, He “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and it was then that the man became a living being”. Although the man was fully formed by God in all respects, *”he was not a living being until after taking his first breath."* ".So did a man take his first breath?Did Man take his first breath?Did God breathe the breath which gave life?Is the breath of God air or is it life itself?Does this mean air is required to be alive?.Does it actually say what you say it says, or is that your take on it?As I said, there are many things which can be taken several different ways. You give this as the only way to take it.Based on what.

.“In Job 33:4, it states: “The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” ".Same thing. Are you claiming it is saying God is air?Generally, the nature of God isn’t considered to be a mixture of N2, O2, Argon, etc.Or perhaps again it is only his breath because he respires? If this were so, I guess God could be detected by the way his breath fogs on cold mornings. Is the superficiality of the interpretation there yet?.Again, to quote Ezekiel 37:5&6, “Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord .”.The valley of dry bones is the basis of proof that nobody is alive before their first breath?Or in this case before their restored breathing?.So, were they alive because they breathed or did they breathe because they were alive?.

“In Exodus 21:22 it states that if a man causes a woman to have a miscarriage, he shall be fined; however, if the woman dies then he will be put to death. It should be apparent from this that the aborted fetus is not considered a living human being since the resulting punishment for the abortion is nothing more than a fine; it is not classified by the bible as a capital offense.”.Yes, it does, as I stated above.Nonetheless, this says nothing about breathing and can not be used as proof that breathing turns a fetus into a human..It does raise an interesting point, though. If the action causes a premature birth and the child takes three breaths and dies, would you even then consider it murder?Exodus 21 doesn’t specify.Your claim would support that charge.Roe versus Wade has it that way, with the statement that it has no civil rights before birth but that the Constitution grants citizenship and the civil right of life to any born in the USA.,That is the hang-up most have with the idea — well, of those who care about such things — that a child after less than three seconds of breathing is a person, but you maintain it was nothing four seconds earlier..Most of the previous two paragraphs were not theological in nature and unrelated to the claim that the bible clearly states people aren’t really people until breathing...And to those of you screaming at me to keep my hands off your bodies, please understand I haven’t touched any of you, haven’t passed any legislation affecting your right to kill what might have been a person, haven’t shouted at you, haven’t blocked you at any point..If you are going to kill your child or would-have-been-child, I would prefer you did it early before she might feel the betrayal. Best if you killed it before it has developed its brain enough to realize. But that’s entirely up to you. I understand you don’t care what I think about it..We were simply discussing what is written and what is not written.

@DavidHuieGreen@joegee“As a guy raised in Catholic church/schools I have to say: “Her body, her decision.””.True equality would apply that ideal to altar boys too.-“Not being of the age of consent, that isn’t correct.”.You’re saying altar boys have all reached the age of consent and thus it is okay for the priests to have at it?.How would that square with the idea that just as we shouldn’t violate women’s bodies, priests shouldn’t violate altar boys?.There’s some weird theology floating around here.

There are 3 types of abortion views.1 anti abortion2 pro abortion3 should have been ( these are the ones that think all type 1’s should have been aborted to start with.) so I guess they are part of type 2 but more extreme in their views. Like the type 1’s who go around killing Doctors and burning clinics, but will send their own daughters out of the country to get one.
