I am not able to see the comic. I could barely get to this page and I’m not sure if this will even post (or maybe repost)
Teresa, could you please post this on your blog? And I’m not just asking because it would knock down the naked midget. Even though knocking down a naked midget has been …. well never mind.
I don’t know what happened, but today I was unable to view GoComics, The Onion, or Netflix at all. I could get to other sites just fine, but no Frog Applause for me.
It was horrible. I actually had to do some work at work. I got my whole day’s work done in 3 hours and GoComics still wasn’t up. I had to ask my boss for more work. Better hope this doesn’t happen tomorrow or he’s going to start wondering how I became so productive.
In line with puppies and all things Japanese, my wife and I were wandering around Tokyo last night, lost, and I saw this one restaurant with the cutest puppies in the window. It was a restaurant because there were people eating meals. Being the twisted person I am (which is why I love Frog Applause and the blog), I was hoping that it wasn’t a special Chinese restaurant and the puppies were what you selected for your meal. I KNOW! I KNOW! But still…. There was the story that China made all the restaurants serving dog move or close during the Olympics in 2008.
I have been in restaurants where there is an aquarium, and you pick the fish you want; then they bring it to you nicely sliced, raw, with the head and tail still moving. It was delicious. Of course the excellent sake’ may have helped.
Oxnate; good thing it was only a few hours. A few weeks ago I couldn’t reach my own home page because my ISP was blocking another ISP over some kind of intercorporate snit… it went on for several days before they came to some sort of agreement and the DNS server suddenly remembered where my page was… How rude!
Good thing we have a variety of backgrounds here… I could never have read the Japanese myself. I recognized those (Chinese) symbols for ‘English language’ but it would have taken me quite a while to copy and paste the rest into a machine translator… (and that’s after hunting up a Japanese font for the character map…)
Years ago, before the kids got big enough to wrestle the remote control out of my hands, I used to watch a lot of TV programs in languages that I didn’t understand (somehow it all seems more profound when I have to make up my own dialog). There was a Japanese game show where the contestants would try to guess the answer to a question and then they would show a video of the answer. One video answer that impressed me went into a restaurant where the cook took a live fish, wrapped the head in a wet towel and cooked the tail end. It came to the table half cooked and half alive, still making gasping motions with its mouth. I wonder what that question was…?

Hmm. Can’t read the Big Bird’s reply. But I’d say the Little Guy is plenty cocky….

Teresa wants us to work on this one. Maybe a post it note telling us if this was right or left handed would help.

The chicken in today’s strip appears to be saying “Watashi wa eigo wo hanasenai n desu,” which is Japanese for “I can’t speak English.”

See, I’m an ignorant American. I thought it was Chinese. I thought it said, “one egg roll, no substitutions.”

If he’s so successful, then why is he the Lone Comb? That connotes failure, not success with the ladies.
But maybe that’s just me.

Thanx a million FlightSuit and JerryFox for translating.
And thanks to Teresa, as always.

I have a friend who once had a bumper sticker made for his Mitsubishi that said “made in Japan” in Japanese.

I couldn’t figure out what Oxnate was talking about - “naked midget”?
Now I’ve seen the blog, and I understand. I wish I hadn’t seen the blog…

Great blog today… even with the naked midget. I think I threw up in my mouth a little.
Tail Of The Pup… brings back memories of my L.A. days. Where else can you get a Coney Island Dog for $7.00?
Don’t say Coney Island, Ushindi!

That’s not really a naked midget - nighthawks is auditioning for a new ExtenZe commercial and that’s his “before” picture.

OK, Kenny - I WON”T say “Coney Island”. I’ll say LaCrosse, Wisconsin instead.
(Double dog with cheese - $1.90. Obviously it’s not in California.)
