I wonder when the next “Tip-of-the-hat” character from another syndicate that can’t be shown will pop up. :)

A little late tonight, only just returned from a day-long “Secret Mission,” haven’t even read yesterday’s comments yet.

This has been arguably the best guest cameo to date.

It’s cool that Dick feels Heloise is a possible next Phantom

There was an interesting explanation for The Phantom’s lack of visible pupils cited on Lee Falk’s Wikipedia page …

“In the A&E Network’s Phantom biography program, Falk explained that Ancient Greek stone busts inspired the notion of pupils of the eyes of “The Phantom” not showing whenever he wore his mask. The old Greek busts had no eye pupils, which Falk felt gave them an inhuman, interesting look. It is also probable that the look of “The Phantom” inspired the look of what has today become known as the “superhero”."

Wouldn’t mind seeing that episode of ‘Biography’ again.

It’s a pity that the late Paul Walker didn’t have an opportunity in this life to play the role, not just because he probably would have been good, but because – y’know – similar names.

So they’ve moved the Old Comics home from Gasoline Alley to Dick Tracy and REACTIVATED them?

Speaking of ‘Assuming The Role of A Legendary Crimefighter’ …

As ‘Dick’ is slang for ‘Detective,’ should Honeymoon fulfill her career ambitions, might one of her nicknames among the force be ‘Dick’ Tracy?

Ahh, the pettiness of copyright: can’t even say (shh!) “Phantom” around here. —As though saying it would somehow financially injure that syndicate or the character’s reputation! A great big, loud HARRUMPH!

While the Ghost Who Walks disappears into the streets of Tracyville in his pursuit, Family Tracy prepares to board its plane for the big European vacation; and the showdown with Abner Kadaver….

Nicely done! The best crossover yet. Love how his identity (or face) was never explicitly revealed!

Since the Phantom knows Oliver and Annie Warbucks – that means Devil and Sandy have likely met! (BTW, Tracy needs to write a magazine article, “How Annie Saved Me” LOL)

Tracy knows to leave it be. He is on vacation and the whole police departments can’t handle it then something is wrong with the police. And the case is none of his business unless told. What you say is absolutely true, as far as a real-life police dept. goes. I was thinking more along the lines of how Tracy has been depicted, over the years, and especially by Gould.

Thank you, Joe and Mike for this great little crossover. Two of my all time favorites in the same strip! As they say in the wrestling fans world…“I’m marking out over here”.

Back in the day…Waaaaaayyyyyy back in the day…….Mad Magazine ran an article or what might happen if comic strip characters did guest shots in other strips. I am trying to remember what characters guested in which strips….but I do remember that Dick Tracy ended up sparing with Joe Palooka in Palooka’s strip. I do remember the strip ending with Tracy knocked down and Joe declared the winner. Tracy looked out at the “audience” and said “Be sure to follow my strip where I do much better!”Perhaps as an homage to that article Tracy might encounter the legendary comic strip prize fighter.

I’m betting with all these little fun diversions, plus a new storyline or two to probably be introduced somewhere as well, and noting Abner’s current adventure is supposedly a long one….his demise might well come on…..Halloween, of course!!!

I haven’t been here for a few weeks. My computer was failing and I couldn’t get to see any of my usual strips for awhile. I did get a new computer and it took awhile to figure out how to get to everything but I’m finally up to date on Tracy and I like the way this story is going so far. Having a guest appearance by Phantom is a pleasant surprise. I started reading Phantom around 1960, same time I started Tracy. These are 2 of my all-time favorite adventure strips.

Just looked it up – Pimpernel was published in 1905, and a stage play by the writer had been successful in London before the book came out.
