My wife is a good travel companion. She plays co-pilot and gets to fiddle with the air conditioner and CD player. She does a lot less navigating since we got the GPS, but still chimes in with reading the road signs.
In the pre-GPS era, “Magellan” (as I called her when she was fulfilling the role) was reading a map. I asked her how far we had to go, and she held up her thumb and index finger about a half inch apart and said, “This far.”
