Poor teacher going to be stuck with trouble makers like Michael, Gordon, Brian, and whoever is in that circle for a full year.

My younger daughter starts middle school next week. She & her BFF were devastated that they were put in different “locker groups”, which means that they will have NO core classes together, for only the 2nd time since Kindergarten.

I heard back in the 70’s in Toronto, Mike Myers, Jim Carrey and Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) all had classes together. Can you imagine the hilarity those 3 together?

Mike lost the collar to his white shirt between leaving the house and getting to the classroom.

I have taught for 34 years and RedBaron 38, not all old teachers think teenagers are trouble makers! I know of many who out shine and are stellar role models!

When my son was in kindergarten he, along with two of his friends, threw toys out the window when the other kids were napping. (When the teacher screeched at me about it, my response was “and where were the ever dedicated teachers while this was happening?”) Nevertheless, the school decided that it would be a “grave mistake” for them to stay friends, and segregation of the boys would be imposed when they were promoted to first grade. One of my son’s friends moved away when his dad got orders elsewhere, so that problem was solved. As to the other friend, he was put in a class with one teacher while my son got the other class. I feel bad for the friend as he ended up with a bitchy teacher while my son’s first grade teacher was a dedicated, nice woman.

My son had to repeat 2nd grade this year but he discovered that his next-door neighbor friend is in the next class over and they’re able to play with each other and when their classes have parties they’ll be together too. It made the transition easy.

@summerdog. He only puts the collar on when he’s in a preachy mood.

@comicsssfan. So,if you had a bad meal at a restaurant, you would forever condemn all restaurants as unfit to dine at? Perhaps you attended the worst school in Michigan, did you ever think of that? You can’t paint every person, place,or institution with the same brush you know.

Our administration is very careful about the groups put together. Most of it involves avoiding personality conflicts (if there are 7 classes, why put a bully and victim together?), but they also avoid putting friends who are loud together, in the same classes year after year, for much this reason. Some kids will talk to anyone. Others lose control around a few people only.

This year, I saw they had taken my older daughter away from her chattiest friends, but put her with a girl she will be laughing with a lot! I may have wished the teacher luck :-)

comicsssfan They are in Canada, land of excellent schools (and two month vacations). Ontario has 13 years of public school..Night-Gaunt49While fully private (no public funds) schools are often excellent because they can always expel poor performing or trouble-making students, charter schools are more often rackets.

Earlier, Gordon was a year ahead of Michael. Did he fail a year?
