I get called by my diminutive plenty of times, but I usually prefer the full name.

Hadn’t heard the sad news until tonight. RIP Richard Thompson, immortal in his art. What a wit and talent, now gone. Peace and love to his family and friends.

my name never lent itself to a nickname, and I was sad for that growing up. so I made sure my children’s names would. But we call them by their full name all the time anyway…

Hey. They put this comic first in the main page. I guess it was to be expected. Andre said “The Spat leaves his Mark.” I know who else left a mark right here.

I also thought that he looked like Timmy Fretwork, until I pulled up his visage and made the comparison. Quite different:

I’d say Emilio is more likely to turn into a lizard any second. Don’t worry Petey, Buckaroo will be along soon to save the day…

I’m usually “Tom,” but people still call me “Tommy.” At work, they insist on “Thomas,” but that seems silly. Actually, I’m “Tentoes.”

I think a diminutive on a grown person is belittling, but that’s just me, I guess. (One reason there are no “juniors” in our family.) A friend has recently taken to calling my husband by a "y’ name; after warning him several times that it wasn’t funny, the last time he called, I told him there was nobody here by that name and hung up.

I expected Petey to take solace from the fact that he was at least a Mr. Spinnerack…

No, Loris. We do not call Peter Otterloop, Jr., “Pete.” We do not call him “Peter Otterloop, Jr.,” either. We call him Petey. Petey Forever!Emilio Spinnerack looks kinda sinister….

Thank you, Richard Thompson, for sharing your talents with us, even for such a short time.

The third panel reminded me of the Judy Blume book “Fudge-a-Mania”, in which Fudge started calling Peter ‘’Pete’’.
