I can see it!
BTW, I think I played in a Villains’ League. Or at least a Villains’ Little League… >.<
And which Cyclops is this guy? Polyphemus, son of Poseidon, perhaps…?
The Greater Cyclopes were the children of Gaea and Ouranus, along with the Hecatoncheires and the Titans.
Technically they’re not gods, but they partake of the Divine.
The only other Classically named cyclopes was Polyphemus, said to be a son of Poseidon, thus at least a demigod.
Either way, if he wishes to play ball with the gods, he’s got to keep his eye on the ball.
@pschearer, I liked Admiral Nelson’s response at the Battle of Copenhagen to a signal of recall: turned to his flag Captain Foley, he said, “You know, Foley, I only have one eye — I have the right to be blind sometimes,” and then holding his telescope to his blind eye, said, “I really do not see the signal!”
Who’s pitching?
16 comments and questions?
There seems to be some curiosity about this. I think I’ll revisit and redesign this series, it wasn’t bad. Maybe I’ll try to get it done for the October playoff season.
Oh, and it was originally from Sept. of 2004 BTW.
What is it with spiked shoes in sports? I can understand it with Football and Baseball, but Golf? Why do Golfers need spikes on their shoes? Are they aerating the fairways? Are they stomping on little wild animals as they go from green to green? Do they really need the extra traction as they walk from tee to shining tee? What kind of sport is Golf anyway? It’s all a lot of bunkers if you ask me!

(Seeing it fine, Justin.)
Hey, Sir Catcher Dudley, aren’t you (panel 2) kind of giving away your signals?

Cyclops is a god? Working up from the Villains’ League or not, I should think he’s a tad misassigned!

Looks like Sir Dudley’s not a catcher as much as a deflecter.

That’s ONE ump who’ll never get dust kicked on him…not unless the manager wants to end up, ‘Cajun Style’ ( when Boody sneezes. )

One question, Justin (if you’re reading this): What year this strip came out before Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace?

I got the baseball pitch just fine, Justin. Colors were off, though…

@Johanan Rakkav Re: Cyclops is a god?
I think he’s related to the owner, so the GM had to play him…

And nobody wonders about a hitter with no depth perception?
(I heard a story once that someone had demo-ed 3D movies to movie mogul Jack Warner. Warner was unimpressed. Seems he had a glass eye.)

Dudley has the mitt strapped to his helmet – you can see the straps.

Who’s pitching? I’m thinking that Neptune would be a spitballer, and that Karma would have nice changeup.

Also like the ‘Field of Dreams’ reference. Justin did build it and we all came!
