Hah! This is one time where typical “Pluggerness” does not fit me. I LOVE spices of all sorts. My kids have grown up having very heavily spiced foods and happily they too love lots of spice in their food and relish trying all sorts of different ethnic restaurants which have an amazing array of spices. My wife was never exposed to spices growing up (Hell, I guess I really wasn’t either… I just had a lot of curiosity about them.) But over the years we have been married, she has gradually grown to enjoy spices as well. Curries of all sorts are wonderful! But, I have rarely if ever found a spice that I didn’t like and want to incorporate in cooking at home!
It is always a challenge to cook for my husband. He has a contact allergy to black pepper (causes his mouth to blister.)Instead, I use orange zest, allspice and clove along with garlic, onion, green peppers and lots of herbs like ginger, fresh basil, rosemary and oregano to flavor our food (not all of them at once, of course.)Two things I don’t own and I won’t use because I don’t like their flavor – cilantro and cumin
we use up a big-size shaker bottle of crushed red pepper every couple of months. we can grow only about half of what we use per year. what germs can live in that kind of environment? lol; works for me……

I was perplexed by “an eighth of a pinch.”

I was perplexed by “an eighth of a pinch” (if the word “perplexed” is the right word to use).

The curry would fossilize before I ever put it into anything.

An eighth of a pinch is equivalent to a smidgen. My wife’s got measuring spoons marked as Dash, Pinch, and Smidgen.

A jar of curry powder and a bottle of hot sauce will last the average newly weds until retirement.

Gee, one bottle of curry powder only makes one dinner for 6 around here…..

Is there such a thing as “hot” curry powder? I haven’t found it yet.

I have six mustards and four hot sauces in the fridge. My wife hates both.

A plugger is as bland and tasteless as week old dried white bread.

Make sure it’s a “pinch”, not a “pint”. Our high school class in bachelor survival learned that the hard way.

If the food isn’t dissolving the plate, it’s not spicy enough.

We bought some “mild” guacamole for my wife. It was so hot, it took her a day to recover, and used Hell on the Red hot to neutralize it.
