Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for September 08, 2016
Transcript:
Man: Young lady, class started five minutes ago. Phoebe: I know. I'm stuck. Man: You are not stuck. Phoebe: My unicorn cast a concentration spell on me, and now I'm obsessed with that one floor tile. Man: I'm guessing you don't have a note saying that. Phoebe: Notes from my unicorn tend not to help much.

At least she was lucky enough for the target to be something in the school.

Draw back of a spell. Rather mechanical.

I would’ve liked to see the spell being casted.

Some Siamese cats must have that spell, as one whom I knew (a friend’s cat) would sit or lie down while staring fixedly and without blinking at one spot on a wall or a blanket, for hours at a time. Also:
It could have been worse—the spell could have contained a “sub-routine” that would cause Phoebe to summon her inner unicorn, in which case Phoebe might have been obsessed with her reflection, whether in a shiny floor tile or in the girls’ bathroom mirror.
