On a happier note…my Pats looked good with a rookie last night. For all you Pats and Brady haters…just wait until Terrible Tom Terrific gets back. Don’t think he’s going to be playing with a vengeance ? Oh boy, just you wait, Henry Higgins, just you wait….
Roger ! Roger ! Roger ! ( Sports Jerk of the Century !! )
@Linguist It’s easy to see why so many hate the Pats. I’ve been a fan since the 70’s. The halcyon days of Sam Bam Cunningham “Buddha” Hunt, Ron Meyer (GAG!), et. al. I remember how truly awful this franchise was under Billy Sullivan, then Victor Khyam (sp?). The problem is once the team got good, there were a lot of people who jumped on the bandwagon. I ran into a Pats fan here in Raleigh and he was “one of those.” Same goes for the Red Sox.
The day will come, sooner rather than later, when NFL refs are brought into the NFL as the professionals they should be.Why the NFL owners and teams are willing to still have the refs be amateurs who have real jobs during the week is far beyond me. Games might just be better and injuries fewer if the NFL refs were well compensated pros.
I grew up in the Boston area and have always been a Boston sports fan. We have had the very lean years and then the good years. I remember when the Pats played at Fenway (60s) and then moved to Harvard Stadium then on to Foxboro.
@Linguist… So,since the days of Vito “Babe” Parilli and Jim Nance? By the way, Shaeffer Stadium was one of, if not the.sorriest excuses for a professional football stadium. The day that they tested the toilets at the stadium is a day that shall live in the annals of bathroom history. Mass flooding ensued!

The problem is that football officials are amateurs (even though they get paid). A bit of the ol’ ultra-illogic about the ol’ ultra-violence…….
