Funny, when I read this, I tend to identify with the parents, so, of course, at first, I think Elliot is talking about the things my parents generation thought were good for kids.
But wait…. no…. I’m too old to have a 10-year-old kid…I could easily have a kid with a 10-year-old kid…so Elliot’s grandparents are possibly my age…. or maybe (sob) even a little younger.
So yeah… mullet …. … right, Elliot…. It was the 80’s…Peter’s parents just may have sent him off to kindergarten looking like a big doofus.
Mullet isn’t eaten around here like it used to be. It used to be a sort of staple fish. Personally (though I am not a big fish eater) I think its flavor is a bit strong fried, but a good “charcoal mullet” (grilled fresh isn’t bad once or twice a year. There wasn’t much that wasn’t eaten from the fish. “Pluck” or the livers and gizzards (yep, mullet have gizzards) were a delicacy to many. When the fish ran in the fall along the beaches they wer/are netted, and the roe was broken out and fried, served with eggs. The poor man’s caviar.
No mullet, thank you. And my mum was very fond of fried brains – served with ketchup, no less. (Yes, it was as barfable as it sounds.) My dad didn’t like them either, so I managed to escape.
Other than the mullet, the rest of those are all good things. Especially the milk and sunshine when it comes to 10-year-olds who spend all day inside on their electronic devices.
QOTD #1: No mullet for me, by the time they were fashionable my hair was way to curly. As for the other type, well my dad doesn’t like fish so it was a no go.
QOTD #2: Eating all my food, keeping my room clean, doing whatever was asked of me – no questions asked.

If your food was healthy to begin with the vitamins would already be in the food.
