I’m afraid, it’s the other way ’round for me. I still do not understand at what point in time, the Europeans began pretending Halloween had been there all the time. It had not and I am not getting the hang of it.
I would probably have cookies and chocolate around most of the year. The day before All Saint’s Day, I do not! And still surprised by the always same kids coming around on exactly that day, Halloween becomes a nuisance. I tend to oppose pressure and declare to ignore this US-tradition. You could take it back, please?
We’ve had our own ways, as kids, to have fun and some do even remember!
Interesting all the above reactions. My first interpretation of the second frame was that the man would be accused of attempting to lure children for unsavory purposes if he offered them candy on any day except Halloween. That seems to be the general attitude in the US.
I have a hard time understanding the pomposus maximus towards pomposus minimus. There are a lot of people who choose not to observe Halloween, and for various reasons. To chase someone away because they think differently than another is very narrow minded. Think my way or don’t think at all, how stupid.

I’m not much impressed with Halloween, but I like to celebrate 1 November—that’s Leftover Candy Marked Down Cheap at the Chain Stores Day.

Why it’s not OK is that you’re supposed to take it in to work.
