Old-school! Built in 1901, Macy's Harold Square still transports customers from floor to floor using wooden escalators! And unused Walt Disney World runway plays When You Wish Upon A Star when driven over at 45 miles per hour! Luca Iaconi-Stewart spent seven years building a replica Air India Boeing 777 using only manila folders!

One “Calvin and Hobbes” strip had C’s father talking to C about wooden escalators. Was he talking about Macy’s?

I remember those escalators back in the 80’s when I was a kid and they are still there. They must be of good quality running for over a century! LOL

Back in the 70s I recall seeing a wooden escalator in the Boston subway.
It was a narrow one person wide and very scary looking.

Ok, the musical runway is pretty cool. There are plenty of musical roads around, but the abandoned runway at Disney World plays the song for planes taking off and landing…

Ummmm…..if the Disney runway is unused, how do you know it plays “When You Wish Upon A Star?” Wouldn’t you have to use it to know that?
