@cdedward — reminds me of how I was totally ignorant of the Harry Potter books until I read about how the local Blue Hair Mafia was picketing the release of PRISONER OF AZKABAN at the local Barnes & Noble.
We’d have to shut down most of the federal government if they started obeying the Constitution. No need to burn the document when indifference and apathy will do.
biblio: I do this most years. I think 2007 was the only year I didn’t, and that was the year I was hospitalized around the time of Banned Books Week.
The list is enormous. Books such as “Little House on the Prairie,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Huck Finn,” & “Tarzan of the Apes” have all been banned. The most ironic is the banning of Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.”
I love this. Years ago, I gave my son a T-shirt that said,”Celebrate freedom. Read a banned book.” and listed the most popular banned books. He wore it proudly.

Huck Finn, Catcher in the Rye, Howl (though merely a poem). Dr. Z in Russia, the Bible in Q’uran READING countries on and on.
Universal truth: If it makes you think, consider points one way or the other, it scares SOMEONE and they want it gone.

Stephen King’s “books” should be hacked up. But that would be redundant…

Some of the best reading is from the banned books list. Think of Huckleberry Finn.

Pab, you can have your liver removed without being hospitalized you know. Like in that scene from Monty Python’s “Meaning Of Life”.
