That’s just wrong. The whole Republican philosophy is based on “it’s mine, I earned it, I’m gonna eat the whole bag and if you’re starving to death it’s your own fault.”

I’m a Democrat. I actually do agree with some Republican orthodoxy, such as smaller government and fiscal responsibility. The trouble is, elected officials present their beliefs in such a toxic manner that it makes it look like they hate minorities and women. Their views on immigration, social programs, and women’s health make it seem like they are openly hostile to anyone who isn’t a rich, white male. And their open hostility and complete opposition to a black president doesn’t help their outreach efforts any. I just think that there are ways to express disagreements that don’t turn everyone off. If you hate the ACA, develop an alternate healthcare plan, present it to the people of America, and let them see how it is superior. If you disagree with the President, present alternate policies and let the people decide—don’t call him a socialist, or Kenyan, or unAmerican, or Muslim, etc. Name-calling is for middle-schoolers, not grown men in positions of power.

I find Christians scary only if they get elected to office pretending to believe in the separation of Church and State.
