Glaciers advance by force of gravitational extrusion, mostly.

One foot of snow is roughly equal to one inch of water.

One inch of water is equal to 1.08 inches of ice.

As a conservative estimate, ten inches of snow make one inch of glacial ice.

Canadian glaciers had a depth of 2,000 to 4,000 meters.

They only advanced when there was sufficient snowfall to maintain them through the summer months.

    When snowfall lapses, glaciers retreat.

A snail was assaulted by a tortoise. When asked to describe the attack, he said, “I don’t know, it all happened so fast!”

Water is a 3 atom molecule with an angle of 105 deg between the atoms. This means ice floats. This also means life is possible. Almost all other 3 atom molecules have an angle of 180 deg. One of the clearest indications I know that there is a God, Allah, Rama, The Force, whatever you wish to call it.

“Against stupidity (the climate change deniers) the gods themselves contend in vain.” (B. Russell) These will be the people who complain the loudest when they are starving while baking. They’ll say “Why didn’t you do something?”

By the way, I’m a retired professional geologist. There is NO debate among legitimate (not paid by the carbon fuel interests) scientist about global warming, or that we are making it worse. The only questions are “How bad will it get?” and the details of how bad it will get. We know the general answer: “Very bad for humans.” This answer, and the details we are trying, with insufficient funding, to work out, make people uncomfortable, and are therefore rejected.

For example, if a doctor tells you that you have cancer, you naturally want a second opinion. What you don’t need, even more than you don’t need cancer, is someone who tells you what you want to hear. Unfortunately, you want the latter, and it is only because you have seen the consequences of untreated cancer that you will ever accept the answer you don’t want to hear.

Because you have not actually seen the effects of climate change, you don’t think it can happen to you. After all, you’re special.

Like cancer, by the time you do see the effects, it will be much too late. Have a nice day in La La Land.

I wish the cartoon were true. Unfortunately, virtually all the glaciers are receding, many quite rapidly.

This planet has cycled back and forth between iceball and ice fully melted a number of times over it’s history. It’s caused the precession in our planet’s spin and our orbit around the sun.At the moment we are headed to the fully melted end of the cycle. We have sped up the melting a bit but we are not the cause of it.In a few thousand years when the cycle starts the other way people will be complaining about it getting colder too.

    additional harm to the environment.

Warming will reach its apex, and redistribution of water resources will cause cooling and the re-absorption of greenhouse gasses.

CO2 will not cause the end of the world, and it will not do any harm that is not already coming, and it may prevent some harm that might otherwise occur to accomplish the necessary warming.

AGW is based on junk science.

AGW is not an intellectual scientific opinion.

AGW is a faith-based imposition of moral superiority and higher ideals.

    It is not science.

    It is religion.

And it isn’t even a good one.
