I literally have no idea what this comic strip is trying to say… Looks like the spider is doing some “spiderman” type move… But… I’m clueless as to what the gag is supposed to be…
Okay, I finally figured it out: The turtle would have freaked out knowing a spider almost landed on him. The bird saw it happen and instead of telling him and freaking him out, he’s just going to keep it to himself. Nothing more to the strip.
In the tradition of the Ancients such as Heraclitus, it is the zeitgeist of the unreality of the mind/body theory of Descartes, where he describes reality as a non-thing, a posteriori as it is, thus, as anybody can see, the spider just fell off its perch when it went to sleep.

We leave the spiders alone. We prefer them to whatever they are eating.

Could be talking about either the tortoise or the spider – what each would learn from contact.

I think the spider fell off the limb, shot a web to the limb and climbed back up to the limb. But the written part of the cartoon eludes me as well!

I don’t get it either but any comic that opens discussions must be a good one. Critical thinking is almost a lost act.

I thought he was making a trap to catch the bird. That loop was about the right height.

I never understood that saying. What you don’t know, could very well kill you.
